Full deletion, for every account
Account and data deletion is available to every candidate and employer, and our handling of your data follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). A limited set of records is retained only where the law requires it.
What Data Gets Deleted
When your deletion request is completed, we permanently remove the personal data we hold about you, including:
For Job Seekers (Candidates)
- Account details — name, email address, phone number, password, profile photo and date of birth
- Resume and profile data — work experience, education, skills, languages, certifications and any resumes built or uploaded on WorkDu
- Job activity — job applications and their history, saved/bookmarked jobs and job alerts
- Company interactions — followed companies, reviews and ratings you posted
- Community activity — feed posts, comments and messages
- Preferences and search history stored against your account
For Employers (Companies)
- Company profile — company name, logo, banner, description, addresses and social links
- Recruiter account details linked to the company
- Job postings created by the account
- Saved candidates, shortlists and candidate reviews
- Subscription and plan preferences (see the retention and payments notes below)
How to Request Deletion
Choose whichever method is easiest for you:
From the Mobile App
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account (in the "Danger Zone" section) and follow the on-screen prompts. Available on both Android and iOS in line with Google Play and Apple App Store policies.
On the Website
Log in at workdu.com and go to your Account Settings → Delete / Close Account. Confirm to submit your deletion request.
By Email
If you cannot access your account, email support@workdu.com from your registered address with the subject "Delete My Account". We may ask you to verify your identity first, to protect your account from unauthorised deletion.
Processing Timeline
- Within 24 hours We acknowledge your request.
- Within 7 days Your account is deactivated and hidden. You may cancel your deletion request during this grace period by logging back in or contacting support.
- Within 30 days Your personal data is permanently erased from our active systems, and shortly afterwards from backups, except for records we are legally required to keep.
Data We Are Required to Retain
To meet legal, tax and security obligations, we may retain a limited amount of information even after your account is deleted:
- Invoices, payment and tax records, retained for the period required under Indian law.
- Records needed to resolve an active dispute, complaint or legal claim.
- Minimal information used to prevent fraud, abuse and re-registration bans.
- Aggregated or anonymised data that can no longer identify you, used for analytics and to improve WorkDu.
Third-Party Services
- Payments — WorkDu uses Razorpay, Stripe and PayPal to process payments. We do not store your full card details. Payment records held by these providers are governed by their own retention policies and applicable law.
- Social login — if you signed in with a social/OAuth provider, the connection is revoked and the linked tokens are removed on deletion.
What Happens After Deletion
Deletion is permanent
Once the 7-day grace period ends, your account cannot be restored.
- You will lose access to your profile, resumes, applications and message history.
- Employers will lose their job postings and candidate data associated with the account.
- Any active subscription is cancelled; unused plan value is forfeited unless our Refund Policy states otherwise.
- You can create a new account later, but previous data cannot be restored.
